Errata for the Lehuakona Starlink release

• All Platforms

  • An important patch has been made available for the AST and SLA libraries, which introduces support for the January 1 2009 leap second. This patch is strongly recommended for all users.

    • OS X PPC (8.8MB, md5sum: 1ce338a04d76a0e14fcd79421d27546e)When you unzip the patch, it will create a star/lib directory containing a number of library files. Copy these files into $STARLINK_DIR/lib, overwriting the files already in place.

  • A bug in AUTOASTROM was identified that results in an error message similar to:

        Can't use string ("4") as an ARRAY ref while "strict refs" in use at
        /star/Perl/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.10.0/Starlink/Autoastrom.pm line
        1813.

    This bug also affects automated astrometry calibration in GAIA. If you receive this error, download this file and place it in the $STARLINK_DIR/Perl/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.10.0/Starlink/ directory, overwriting the Autoastrom.pm file already in place.

  • A bug when using CONVERT from the bash shell was identified that affects things like the photometry calculations in GAIA. This bug will report errors like:

  • Unable to create file /temp_fits_IMG005R054.sdf - Permission denied

    All bash users should download this file and place it in the $STARLINK_DIR/bin/convert directory, renaming the file to convert.sh and overwriting the file already in place.

• 64-bit Linux

  • A bug in MAKECUBE was identified, where MAKECUBE or MAKEMAP freezes upon multiple calls in ORAC-DR or ICL. If you see random freezing in MAKECUBE or MAKEMAP, download this patch (2.0M, md5sum: 9c086efdcfe0e723efb1ca5c9abfcbc4). When you unzip the patch, it will create one file. Place this file in the $STARLINK_DIR/bin/smurf/ directory, overwriting the file already in place.

• OS X 10.5 Intel

  • A bug in SPLAT was identified that doesn't allow NDFs to be loaded. If you see an error message stating:

        Spectrum 'filename' has an unknown type, format, or name syntax(guessed: NDF )

    • then you should download this patch (2.7M, md5sum: 6256ca179f5a6c32f040f316db050aa0). When you unzip the patch, it will create three files. Place these in the $STARLINK_DIR/starjava/lib/i386/ directory, overwriting the files already in place. Please note that this patch is only for 10.5 installations.
