For Unix ADAM applications linked since ADAM V3.1, the ADAM_USER directory and
global parameter file, GLOBAL.sdf, are created automatically.
Compiled Interface Files (.ifcs) will only work for the platform type on which they were
created.
Monolith top-level routines must be written in the style described in Section 6.4 for use
on Unix. Monoliths are linked using alink.
ADAM tasks will usually default to interpreting environment variables and ‘˜’ in
filenames used with HDS. This is not necessarily true of names used with other ADAM
facilities such as FIO and may be overridden by user or programmer action for HDS
filenames.
